About Bawa
Community Activities & Institutions
Community institutions include the Bawa Public School, the Nzon Market, and the Bawa Community House. Market is held once per week to sell crops and buy staples such as salt, vegetable oil, fish, and meat for those who can afford it. Once per month village meetings are held at which traditional dances are performed with music provided by drums, guitars, and glass bottles. At such meetings the “Njangui” is organized; a kind of community bank from which each member takes home an amount of money equal to his seasonal contribution to the community.
